I am writing this to give you an update on what will be going on with the show this upcoming year and how I plan to go about it.
For those of you who follow me on Twitter and/or on Facebook, you have an idea of how I ran the show. I did the Pregame show before (almost) every Penguins game one hour before the puck drop. During the games, I would live tweet the action on Twitter while John (Follow @John_Druga96 on Twitter) gave all the updates on the Facebook page. Following the game, I posted my 3 stars and thoughts on both platforms. I also would give any updates (injuries, transactions, etc) throughout the day, as well as morning skate info.
It is a lot of fun doing this page and I really enjoy doing it for you guys. I am going to be busy in the fall but I think I will still be able to do every game as I did before. I will still have the Pregame show and the post game show and I intend to continue to tweet throughout the games.
All that being said, I am going to be doing some changes this year. Here are some things to expect:
- The Facebook page will NOT be getting live posts during most games. John will be unavailable during the home games this season, so only the away games will have live posts and that will depend on John's schedule. Its tricky going back and forth for me to do both during the game, so if you want in-game updates, follow the twitter page @BigDPensPregame.
- The Pre and Post Game shows are MOVING TO THIS BLOG PAGE. It is really hard to do the show in tweets of only 140 characters, and even more difficult to be switching back and forth between Twitter and Facebook to do the posts in only an hours time. The great thing about the blog page is it allows me to get all the information down and I am not limited to 140 characters. Also, this prevents your twitter feed from becoming completely log-jammed with my posts. So from now on, the entire Pregame show will be on this blog, and live ONE HOUR before game time. I will tweet and post the link to that night's show on both Facebook and Twitter then.
- The move DOES NOT mean I won't be tweeting or posting on the Facebook page. I will still continue to use both to give you any information about morning skate, transactions, injuries, etc. I just want to give you a better Pregame and Post Game show, which the blog allows more than Twitter and Facebook. I will, again, live tweet the games as much as I can.
- More blog posts. Its been kind of quiet this summer, but that happens when there is no hockey. That will be different during the season when there are more games, injuries, transactions and such to talk about. Also, you can follow John's Pens Blog as well.
- NEW THIS SEASON: Big Dave's Week in Review. Every Sunday night I intend to write up a piece with my thoughts on the week, my 3 stars of the week and other writings/thoughts as well.
It is so much fun for me to do this page and I love doing it. The Twitter started this time last year and we gained over 150 followers the first year and over 100 Facebook followers in the six months since I started that page. The blog has done very well also because you you guys, getting close to 5000 hits since I started it in May. Without your support, the Twitter, Facebook and blog would never have grown so much. So, once again, I give you all my thanks. Every single one of you has an impact on the show and what I write, tweet and post. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I hope that you all will enjoy these changes. I really feel it will allow for a better show and all in once place.
Like you guys, I love this team and am excited for the new season start. I want to keep doing this and hope you enjoy it. Please continue to follow the Twitter, Facebook and blog (links to all below) as we continue to grow this season. Thanks again and LETS GO PENS!!!
My Best,
Big Dave
